Studying in Perth is absolutely a wonderful experience, especially for people like me who had never been to a foreign country before. Spending time in an entirely new environment is impressive, wonderful and thrilling at the same time. My friend and I even met the sea for the first time, and its vastness and its shade of dark blue left us with an unforgettable impression. I watched the sun set, enjoyed the summer breeze and collected beautiful seashells. Everything was so great!

I studied medicine-releated course in UWA, such as neuroscience and statistics. It's a fantastic and meaningful experience for me to study abroad and embrace different culture. More importantly, I learned to cook by myself and practiced my oral English with local people. Overall, I am greatful toward this experience, which makes me know about myself better and a more mature person.

The one-month journey slipped by in the blink of an eye, yet it left a vivid and lasting impression on me. The first week of classes felt like opening a new window: from understanding the pathways to becoming a GP or specialist in Australia, to grasping the logic behind designing and implementing clinical trials, and mastering the skills of academic writing and responding to editorial comments. Each topic offered me a more dynamic perspective on the diverse dimensions of the medical field.
Beyond the classroom, the laboratory practice was another fascinating exploration. Here, I not only learned how to conceive basic experimental designs, execute procedures rigorously, but also developed a systematic approach to analyzing results. Those questions and insights that emerged during hands-on operations turned abstract theories into tangible knowledge.
The gains of this journey extended far beyond academics. Daily chats with my homestay family not only polished my spoken English in a relaxed atmosphere but also served as a key to unlocking the fabric of Australian life, letting me perceive the inclusiveness and warmth in local culture. Whether through exchanges during study breaks or weekend trips with peers, I was fortunate to make many like-minded friends. The scenic views along the way and encounters with Australia’s unique wildlife added unexpected joy and warmth to this experience.

Perth is a city where sunlight perpetually embraces the sea. During my month at The University of Western Australia, I was granted the rare privilege of advancing my medical knowledge while simultaneously immersing myself in the region’s distinctive cultural tapestry and its vast, luminous landscapes. Beyond the rigors of our research project, the daily practice of English polished both my diction and my confidence; more importantly, the collaborative spirit of the laboratory and the shared dreams of my peers forged friendships that transcend continents.
Through interdisciplinary teamwork I refined my communicative agility and sharpened my capacity to resolve complex, real-world problems. I extend my deepest gratitude to my university and to every mentor whose guidance made it possible not merely to arrive in Western Australia, but to inhabit its narratives, to walk its salt-tinged winds, and to understand its singular heartbeat.

During the four-week project, I attended lectures on the Australian healthcare system, doctor-patient communication, medical ethics, and clinical paper writing. I also participated in research projects and completed the weekly tasks assigned by the professor. Friendly UWA teachers offered clear guidance and genuine encouragement. The beautiful scenery and cultural atmosphere of Perth provided an ideal backdrop for our studies. After the project ended, I left with new knowledge, wonderful memories, and nice friendship.

I really enjoyed the scenery in Perth. It has a peaceful, unique beauty with its clear blue skies and endless desert. During the trip, we had plenty of close contact with nature. We felt the cool waves on our feet, got sand blown into our clothes, and interacted with Australian animals like kangaroos, koalas, and snakes at the zoo. Sitting under a tree and watching seagulls fly by, I appreciated how the natural landscape here feels intact and full of pure life.

I did the program with six other girls from Guangdong Medical University. We went from being total strangers to living together for almost a month. We cooked in the dorm, grilled steaks, spent weekends playing billiards, went for city walks, and watched fireworks together on the Australia Day. I also made friends from Soochow University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, which I feel incredibly grateful for!
